Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid will miss at least the next two games after being released from the hospital on Thursday.

Embiid was injured when Fultz slammed into Embiid as both players were attempting to collect a loose ball.

Embiid is now in the NBA's concussion protocol.

There is no timetable for Embiid's return but he won't travel with the team for road games against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday and Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.

The collision occurred just 20 seconds into the second quarter when Markelle Fultz was trying to drive towards the hoop.

After missing over 200 games in his short career thus far, neither Embiid nor the Sixers want to see him sitting on the sidelines any more.

Embiid is averaging 22.9 points, 11 boards and 1.8 blocks per game in 2018, leading the team in all three categories. "My heart dropped. He's a tough guy". His teammate Ben Simmons helped lead the way as he has done many times this season, finishing with 13 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds. Philly is now sitting in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 44-30, and they're just a half-game behind the third place Cleveland Cavaliers.

Embiid is not joining the Sixers on their two-game road trip and there is now no timetable on Embiid's return.
