Alexa is laughing manically and frankly we're screwed guys

Amazon Alexa now supports music streaming from Deezer

Deezer enters Voice Activation market with Amazon Alexa

According to The Verge, Amazon confirmed on Wednesday that "Alexa", the voice of Echo smart speakers, may cackle unprompted from time to time.

Don't be alarmed! Your Alexa-enabled device may lapse into a sudden fit of giggles, but Amazon is aware of the problem. The news comes a few days after users took to social media to share their stories of odd laughter coming from their Echo devices.

To set up voice control for Deezer, set it as your default music streaming service within the Amazon Alexa app and you're away.

"Lying in bed about to fall asleep when Alexa ... lets out a very loud and creepy laugh", said Gavin Hightower on Twitter. If you want to hear what Alexa's laugh sounds like just play one of the videos below. My wife was there when it happened and she is the only person who can drop-in. People typically activate their Echo speakers by saying the word "Alexa", which triggers the device to listen and respond to commands like changing the volume.

I was manually turning the volume down using the buttons on my echo dot and it started laughing like she was being tickled.

With the recent surge in reports of the odd behavior, it would logically seem that the laughter is being caused by something in a recent update - a conflict with a third-party app, or maybe even a bit of malware that has infected some systems. Amazon is hasn't responded but is apparently collecting data. The software is randomly laughing at users.
