Could New England be a realistic landing spot for Johnny Manziel?
The reason Johnny Manziel was at Texas A&M's Pro Day, years after graduating, was to help the younger A&M players try out for NFL scouts ahead of the 2018 NFL Draft. He impressed enough that a contingency from the New England Patriots met with him before and after the session.
In his two seasons as a starting National Football League quarterback, Johnny Manziel threw for 1,675 yards with a 57-percent completion percentage. The former Heisman Trophy victor cracked a joke about that on Instagram with the following post.
Manziel has become something of a reclamation project after flaming out with the Cleveland Browns, who drafted him 22nd overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. It looks like the Patriots are interested in bringing Manziel in.
In two years in the NFL, Manziel started eight games and went 2-6, compiling 1,675 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions.
The Patriots met with quarterback Johnny Manziel before and after his workout at Texas A&M's pro day Tuesday, according to the Boston Herald's Karen Guregian.
"I got lost in a lifestyle, got caught up in the wrong things", Manziel said after his Texas A&M Pro Day performance. He said on "Good Morning America" in February that he has stopped drinking, and revealed that he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder previous year. If Manziel proves he has grown up, he could get another chance in the NFL.
Manziel's last professional snap came in December 2015 as a member of the Cleveland Browns. "I can't do anything, I can't stress about it, all I can do is make sure I'm where I need to be".
