The second season of Marvel's "Luke Cage" will premiere on Netflix on June 22.

The second season will pick up after Luke Cage has cleared his name.

Just kidding. Fresh off his victory over the Hand in The Defenders, Luke Cage season two finds its titular hero back home but more visible than ever and in need of sending a message out to anyone who's listening. He'll be up against a "formidable new foe" that will push him into contemplating going over the fine line between what makes someone a champion and a villain. "And you definitely can't break me", he arrogantly shouts. The next minute, Marvel/Netflix slap us in the face and tell us Luke Cage is about to tear up the summer. Its interconnected series, each focused on a single street-level superhero in New York City, began in 2015 with Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Next, we see some of that Marvel action fans have come to love over the years.

Marvel's Luke Cage stars Mike Colter (Extinction). Thankfully he has the fifth Defender Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) and former police detective Misty Knight (Simone Missick, now equipped with a bionic arm) at his side. Cheo Hodari Coker (Ray Donovan) is the second season's showrunner and executive produces with Jim Chory (Marvel's Jessica Jones) and Marvel's Head of Television Jeph Loeb. The premiere episode of season two is directed by Lucy Liu (Future World).

On top of the trailer, we were also given the release date of June 22nd which is fairly soon considering the amount of time that's usually between the series put out.
