Raiders release Aldon Smith following domestic violence accusation

San Francisco Police are looking for suspended Oakland Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith following a domestic violence incident over the weekend.

The Raiders signed him in 2015 and he played nine games for them until the National Football League suspended him for substance abuse violations.

Smith was released by the San Francisco 49ers in 2015 following a DUI arrest. And I'm scared for his life with his addiction, " Shawna McKnight told

Smith has been arrested three times for driving under the influence, including a hit-and-run, been charged with three felony counts of possessing illegal assault weapons, and the incident at Los Angeles International Airport when he was arrested for making a false bomb threat. Oakland took a chance on him, and he registered 3.5 sacks in nine games before the suspension came down.

"#BREAKING: Sources telling me Aldon Smith was involved in a domestic violence incident last night/early this morning, and then fled the scene", a tweet from Ted Ramey's Twitter feed @TedRameyMedia read.

On Sunday, Smith wrote in an odd Instagram post: "you all are wrong". Smith's girlfriend, who reported the crime, said he bit her arm before climbing out the window of his residence in San Francisco, according to The Mercury News.

The San Francisco police statement ended by asking Smith to reach out to investigators with the department's special-victims unit at its 24-hour operations center at 415-575-4444.

The Raiders, who signed Smith to a two-year contract extension that would not have paid him unless he was reinstated and played before the 2016 season, did not respond to calls for a comment.
