Yes, March 10 is apparently "Mar10 Day", and to make it a more Nintendoriffic Day (see, we can make up words, too), Nintendo and Google have come together to make Google Maps a more fun place.

You can access the new Easter egg with the Google Maps app for iOS and Android.

Google Maps have launched a Mario update to coincide with Super Mario Day which sees the Nintendo icon drive alongside you.

As part of the celebration of everyone's favorite Italian plumber (sorry, uncle Vinnie), Google Maps is temporarily changing the distinctive blue arrow in its navigation mode to an image of Mario in a racing kart.

As always, respect the rules of the road.

Google's announcement goes on to encourage you to use the integration safely, 'we don't encourage throwing bananas or red shells at other drivers in real life!' Mario will appear for both Android and iOS users.

The new inclusion was inspired by Mario Day and Google is ready to celebrate!

The update is definitely an exciting surprise for Mario fans, but Nintendo lovers will have to wait until next year for the release of the Mario Kart Tour game. You can now update the app to include a Mario Kart feature turning the usual location arrow with the fictional character.

Good bye for a week to the random Google Maps lady and her accent and say hello to Super Mario for directions. Google have teamed up with Nintendo America to bring this cool feature.

"Just do not forget to practise safe driving on the road", Google Maps' official blog says. When it's clicked, a confirmation screen pops up to engage Mario as your own personal navigator-choose "Let's-a-go" to get moving.
