Amazon will now deliver packages to trunk of your vehicle

Amazon Wants to Deliver Orders Inside Your Car

Amazon already wants to leave packages in your home when you aren't there with Amazon Key, and now the company is expanding that to your auto.

When customers are checking out, Volvo owners will have the option to select their auto as their preferred delivery location. You'll need a vehicle with an active OnStar account, and customers with a 2015 or newer Volvo vehicle will need an active Volvo On Call account.

The lawsuit against the streaming service, brought by the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), of which Amazon, Netflix and some Hollywood studios are members of, alleges SetTVnow streams programmes without paying the creators for their content. But an Amazon spokeswoman, Kristen Kish, told CR that drivers "are thoroughly vetted, with comprehensive background checks and motor vehicle records reviews". It's integrated with the company's Amazon's Key service, launched a year ago to enable customers to automatically open doors for delivery people.

No. In-car delivery is FREE for Prime members.

For it to work, I needed an eligible vehicle - almost all Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac and Volvos with a model year of 2015 or newer are compatible. As the delivery window inevitably shrinks down from four hours to something more narrow, the options for groceries will no doubt increase.

Amazon announced today that it has formed a partnership with General Motors and Volvo to offer deliveries inside your auto, which, according to The Wall Street Journal, will give the retail giant access to "potentially millions of vehicles" across 37 US markets.

The cars awaiting the service needs to be parked within the area of the Amazon couriers.

Delivering packages inside instead of leaving them on your porch should cut down on theft, although Amazon Key requires a certain level of trust.

Inc. this morning launched Key In-Car, a novel package delivery option that it hopes will make online shopping even more convenient than it is now. "I can't wait to check my car's trunk to see what's delivered next!"

Amazon said the service is available now across 37 cities and surrounding areas, with more rollouts planned. Only then is the auto unlocked for the delivery to take place. Customers can track when their auto was unlocked and relocked via the app's activity feed; they also have the ability to rate the in-car delivery.

Can't get home fast enough for your package delivery? It's then locked back up after the delivery is complete.

Delivering to cars could cut down on those worries, at least for some Prime customers.
