Houlton man dies in Saturday crash

A Crawford County man was killed Friday morning after the pickup truck he was riding in went off the road and hit a tree.

He called on residents to report careless drivers to authorities so that they can be arrested before they cause accidents on the roads. The area about a mile west of Sheakleyville in Sandy Creek Township.

Police said a four-door vehicle pulled out of the parking lot of Hazels Gourmet Coffee & Tea onto Woodbine in front of a sport utility vehicle.

The 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. King's death was ruled accidental due to blunt force trauma.

Police say the teenager, whose name was not released, drove into oncoming traffic before losing control of her northbound Nissan 350Z.

The crash closed Yates Street between Douglas and Broad streets for several hours. East Brandywine, Glenmoore, Honey Brook and Wagontown Fire Companies - as well as Minquas and Westwood Ambulance, lso responded to the scene.

According to State Police, both drivers were females and one of them suffered a minor injury.
