Joshua v Parker: Anthony Joshua drops weight ahead of big fight

Anthony Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs) will defend his IBF and WBA titles against WBO champion Joseph Parker at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales (Showtime, 5 p.m. ET), marking arguably the toughest test of his burgeoning career (save the Wladimir Klitschko fight). Only one title - the WBC - is now not in his possession.

The 25 year-old Ghanaian cum British turned pro on June 5th, 2017 - he has signed with Matchroom Promotions, a promotional outfit owned by Eddie Hearn.

Joshua took control in the fourth, using his longer reach to pick off Parker and one powerful left shook the WBO champion.

Buatsi represented Great Britain at the 2016 Olympic in Rio Janeiro Brazil, in the light heavyweight division, winning an Olympic Bronze Medal.

Joshua, who became the first Briton to hold three recognized world heavyweight titles since Lennox Lewis in 1999, afterward called on Wilder to face him.

Takam fought valiantly against both, sees them both as very good boxers, but ultimately sees this fight as a contest between Joshua's strength and Parker's speed, per Newshub New Zealand.

Victory for Joshua will increase demand and speculation about a showdown with American Deontay Wilder, the WBC champion, in what would be boxing's first four-belt world heavyweight title unification clash.

The first real mega-fight of the year is here, with Anthony Joshua vs Joseph Parker set to take place tonight.

"[Floyd] Mayweather, as great as he is, goes 12 rounds the majority of the time, and everyone claps and says how great the performance was, but because I don't knock my opponent out in two rounds it's a bad performance", Joshua said.

Joshua has stated that he isn't looking past Parker for a possible 2018 megabout with Wilder.

The seventh was another close round, with both men hitting on the break, referee Giuseppe Quartarone issuing another warning.

Joshua (17st 4lb), 28, who was born in Watford and now lives in north London, seemed relaxed despite the size of the occasion and tapped the hands of fans on the way to the ring.

There was drama in the hour or so before the fight when Joshua's representative watching Parker's hands being wrapped complained. He had good moments but not enough and couldn't hurt Joshua when it mattered. I'm convinced Joseph Parker's chin will stand up to anything Anthony Joshua will throw.

"So far Parker hasn't been in stressful situations in the ring like Joshua has, but he does possess some attributes that you have to take seriously". Joshua will win inside eight rounds. Parker scored with a right uppercut, but Joshua probably edged it.

Parker appears to be cutting a trimmer figure these days. In his previous outing against the stubborn Carlos Takam, Joshua earned a cool £15 million while racking up his 20th professional victory.
