The Los Angeles County District Attorney is reviewing a sex crimes case against Kevin Spacey, officials tell CNN.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department first presented the case to the district attorney's office on April 5th, the publication reported, though no additional details were provided.

Netflix announced previous year that it had severed all ties with Spacey and that it would not be involved with any further production of "House of Cards" that included him.

The two-time Oscar-winning actor has been surrounded by controversy for months, following allegations by a number of men that he behaved inappropriately toward them. According to the sheriff's department, detectives began investigating the case on December 11, and it involved an alleged sexual assault of a man in West Hollywood in October 1992.

London cops were already investigating two similar complaints lodged against Spacey, who was artistic director at The Old Vic theatre from 2004 to 2015. In November, a former Boston TV news anchor came forward and accused Kevin Spacey of sexually assaulting her teenage son in 2016 at a Nantucket restaurant. Rapp said when he was 14 in 1986, Spacey invited him to his apartment for a party and made aggressive sexual advances toward him.

The Oscar victor was named and shamed by actor Anthony Rapp in an online expose a year ago (17), when it was revealed he had been sexually assaulted by Spacey when he was 14.

Christopher Plummer replaced Spacey in Ridley's film, who went on to earn Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for the role.

Aside from Rapp's accusation, Spacey has not responded to any of the accusations against him.
