Microsoft Announces Xbox Live Integration with Discord

Microsoft Adding Support for Discord Connectivity Across Xbox One and PC

Microsoft announces Xbox collaboration with Discord to connect accounts

An upcoming update for the Xbox One has shown that Microsoft is adding in PC and Xbox One Discord support, allowing users of that chat client to be able to use it while they're playing on either of those consoles and linking their Xbox Live accounts to their Discord accounts. "If you are playing Sea of Thieves on your Xbox, you can now choose to give your Discord friends the ability to see that and decide whether they want to hop on their Xbox and join you", the blog post read.

Personally, this is great.

The integration will allow players to display whatever they are playing on the Xbox Live platform on their Discord profile. Not only that, you have a lot of Play Anywhere games coming out which this would be ideal for.

Microsoft's Xbox One has had trouble keeping pace with Sony's PS4 in sales and popularity, a fact that has driven the former to seek out more cross-platform opportunities. Open the Account Settings menu on Xbox One, and select 'Linked social accounts.' Here, you will see a new option for linking your Discord account. With this new team-up between Discord and Xbox, interactivity and connection between a group of friends has been made simpler than ever before. On PC or mobile, Xbox Insiders will also be able to connect Discord directly from the Discord app via the connections tab under User Settings. You will then see an Xbox Live option, click on it and sign into your Xbox account. After enabling permission, your accounts will be linked.

"We're excited about working with Discord and are thrilled to enable new ways for gamers to connect with one another online", developers shared within the announcement.
