Several new and expanded probes are underway into Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt's conduct. Susan Collins of ME, who told CNN she thinks that "Scott Pruitt is the wrong person to lead the EPA".
The EPA's ethics workplace falls beneath the Workplace of Normal Counsel, which studies to the administrator's workplace.
The new division will be the 102nd Airborne, PRUITTCAKE DIV, out of Fort Bragg, NC.
Still, even for the 22 regulatory actions that have been finalized under Pruitt's leadership, the savings cheered by Trump and Republican allies are mostly compliance costs - meaning that they would have been shouldered by industry, not the American taxpayer.
Pruitt has cited the statements from EPA ethics officers in response to questions in regards to the association.
Another critique has revolved around the fact that Pruitt was renting a condominium from an energy lobbyist at the exact same time that the EPA approved a pipeline-extension plan advocated by the lobbyist's firm. His stature among deep red members of the Republican Party and skills as an environmental lawyer also mean that it would be very hard to push a replacement of equal talent through the Senate in the next six months.
Henry Barnet, who directs EPA's Office of Criminal Enforcement, Forensics and Training, told The Post that the goal was to provide "a buffer" between Pruitt and the public.
However, on occasions when taxpayers weren't paying for his ticket, Pruitt sat in coach on personal trips to attend college football games is his home state of Oklahoma. They don't look good.
It notes, among other things, that in Pruitt's "eagerness to hold high-profile political events promoting his agenda", the man who now leads the EPA has often "been less than rigorous in following important procedures, leading to poorly crafted legal efforts that risk being struck down in court".
The Washington Post sought records under the Freedom of Information Act late past year, asking for "copies of all emails, letters, voicemails and other communication in which Administrator Pruitt was threatened with violence or which were otherwise considered to be threatening to the administrator". And other Williams & Jensen employees have disclosed lobbying the EPA since Pruitt took over the agency past year.

The official also said that Pruitt sometimes accepted free plane tickets from an employee at the EPA who he hired, which would violate ethics rules regarding the acceptance of gifts from subordinates.
