Comey's interview is part of a tour to promote his forthcoming book A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership, which will be released Tuesday.
Days prior to the 2016 election, Comey sent a letter to Congress announcing his intention to reopen the investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails after discovering additional emails on the former Rep. Anthony Weiner's computer while investigating him for alleged sexting with a underage girl.
Trump called Comey a "slimeball" again and suggested he go to jail. "I was floating above myself looking down saying 'you're sitting here briefing the incoming president of the United States about prostitutes in Moscow'". Just another of his many lies. "His "memos" are self serving and FAKE!" said one tweet.
Indeed, Trump's Friday morning tweets about Comey are some of his best-composed. And he's continued to have trouble finding a lawyer to take his case.
Comey chose to release a letter, days before the presidential election, that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was re-opening its probe of Clinton's email server.
"In other words, he was making decisions based on the fact that he thought she was going to win, and he wanted a job".
It seems many around the country are excited to dig into Comey's details about Trump in the book that have emerged over the last week, including revelations that Comey compares Trump to a "mafia boss" and referred to his presidency as a "forest fire".
"Was she promised a Supreme Court seat, or AG, in order to lay off Hillary", Trump asks in another Tweet.
Trump fired Comey in May 2017, setting off a scramble at the Justice Department that led to the appointment of Robert Mueller as special counsel overseeing the Russian Federation investigation.
"This president is unethical, and untethered to truth and institutional values", Comey writes, according to a New York Times review of A Higher Loyalty.
Instead of facing insistent questions about the "nice and new and 'smart!'" missiles Trump told Russian Federation, over Twitter, to be "ready" to face in Syria, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders got to grandstand a bit by relaying a list of damning criticisms of Comey from a host of Democrats.
Comey, who was appointed in 2013 by former President barackobama, writes that he summarizes his technique plus a few of the wording he utilized within his July 2016 media conference in. Conservatives cried foul, insinuating there was something corrupt about the meeting, which Clinton and Lynch said was largely friendly talk about their grandchildren.
Comey recommended no criminal charges to the Justice Department in the Clinton email probe, instead reprimanding the former Secretary of State as "extremely careless".
"Comey throws AG Lynch "under the bus!"
