Lionel Messi has conceded it "would be terrible" if former Barcelona teammate Neymar joined Real Madrid this summer, as the five-time Ballon d'Or victor voiced his opinion on the furious speculation surrounding the Brazilian's future.
The Brazil star returned to training with PSG last weekend as he continues his recovery from a broken foot sustained in February, but sat out the recent Coupe de France final win and is unlikely to feature in Saturday's final Ligue 1 Conforama game of the season in Caen.
Messi, who is now in South Africa to face Premiership Champions Mamelodi Sundowns, played for four seasons with Neymar at Barca.
"Ney won important trophies here.
But to end in Real Madrid would be a hard blow for us and for Barcelona fans".
The Argentinian, who won the Champions League and two of his LaLiga titles with Neymar alongside him at Barca, said he had spoken to the Brazilian about rumours linking him with a return to Spain.
And the Argentine admitted seeing his former team-mate at Madrid would be a huge blow. "It would make Real Madrid even stronger from a football point of view".
"I am not tempted to leave Barcelona".
Brazilian fans are crossing their fingers that the world's most expensive player will be 100 percent fit for their team's bid to win a record-extending sixth world title in Russian Federation.
"But right now, I'm a coach of these players, and I value what they have done and what they are doing, whenever we have difficulties, they are the ones who are fighting".
"It was a year where I learned a lot, a different year for me", he added. "It's what we all want".
