In an email sent to the press this morning and posted on their website, HTC posted a photo of neatly laid out phone components, with the text "Coming Soon".
HTC UK confirmed that the company's next Android device will debut on May 23.
It is unknown what will happen to HTC's effort in the handset market once the launch of the U12 comes around, as this project is assumed to be the completion of a design that has been in the works for years rather than a brand new model. The phone will pack four cameras; two 8-megapixel cameras on the front with optical image stabilization and bokeh and another dual 12MP + 16MP camera setup at the back.
Otherwise, we'll have to see just what HTC has in store in a few weeks. According to a recent leak, the HTC U12+ might have a 5.99 inch IPS LCD display with 2960 x 1440 px resolution QHD+ panel. The former is expected to be the Taiwanese phone manufacturer's flagship offering for 2018, the smartphone was expected to be unveiled in May. The HTC U11+, launched in November 2017 became HTC's first smartphone to sport an 18:9 aspect ratio and thin bezels. The base variant might have 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Also known as the HTC Imagine, this Android smartphone was shown off at a tech event.
There is a fairly large battery too.
It remains to be seen whether the HTC U12 launch will bring further success to the company or if they will be drowned out in a series of similar phones from competitors. "A phone that is more than the sum of its specs".
