John Kingston, one of three candidates seeking the Republican nomination to run against Warren in the fall, called on Warren to distance herself from Schneiderman, who co-hosted a fund-raising dinner in New York City for Warren in October 2011 during her first campaign.
As a NY state senator, Schneiderman led the push to oust Hiram Monserrate, a fellow Democrat convicted of misdemeanor assault against his girlfriend.

The claims against Schneiderman, a champion of the Me Too movement and outspoken warrior against sexual harassment and abuse, include violent abuse.
Solicitor General Barbara D. Underwood was named acting-Attorney General on Tuesday.
But, he added, "while these allegations are unrelated to my professional conduct or the operations of the office, they will effectively prevent me from leading the office's work at this critical time".
The allegations were stunning, given Schneiderman's record of advocating for women, including pursuing a case against movie producer Harvey Weinstein, who has been accused of repeated assaults and attacks on women. "I could not remain silent and encourage other women to be courageous for me", Ms Manning Barish wrote on Twitter after the story was published.
"If you've got somebody who's pressing their hands around somebody's neck and she's screaming and he's pressing harder, you don't need much more evidence if you've got those facts in front of you", Gershman said.
A fourth woman alleges Schneiderman slapped her when she rebuffed him and asked to remain anonymous. "So I see no immediate rush because it's not as if the attorney general's office is rudderless in the meantime, it's not".
