New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick and former Yankees and Red Sox outfielder Johnny David Damon also made the council roster. The group, which prioritized nutrition during the Obama administration, will reportedly focus on encouraging kids to play sports. Belichick wrote Trump a letter in 2016, congratulating him on running "a tremendous campaign" and conquering "an unbelievable slanted and negative media".
The Trump administration has yet to officially announce all the members of the refurbished council, and as of past year, some reports maintained that actor and bodybuilder Lou Ferrigno was a leading candidate to head the effort.
Dr. Oz is just one of several high-profile individuals selected to serve on the President's Council on Sport, Fitness, and Nutrition.
A recent report in the New York Times mentioned that the president also recently spent a "long time" on the phone with Belichick to talk about the status of quarterback Tom Brady.
Ultimately, designating a new Council to focus on the health of America's youth through exercise and informed nutrition is a good move, with an National Football League coach joining the effort seems like a solid choice.
"It's sad what's happened with all the kneeling and standing and all that, because Donald Trump is a great man, he's a great president and I wish people could understand that", Walker said in an interview with Fox News before the game.
