Yaya Toure: Will leave Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure will leave the club at the end of the season, Pep Guardiola said at a news conference on Friday.

However, as he collects his third Premier League winners medal this year, his overall contribution to City can never be forgotten as one of the most influential midfielders in the modern English game since his arrival from FC Barcelona in 2010.

A meeting with Huddersfield represents the ideal occasion in which to re-write the record books, with City set to get their hands on the Premier League trophy ahead of an outing at the Etihad Stadium.

Asked whether a decision had been reached regarding Toure's future, Guardiola said: "Yes, he's not going to stay next season. We will be focused on winning for Yaya and we are going to try to win it for him", added the Spaniard.

"We can not forget the period from Roberto Mancini, and especially Manuel Pellegrini - Yaya was the key, key, key, key, key, key player". Yaya Toure came here when this idea for the club started, and what we are in this moment is thanks to what this guy has done.

Toure, who turns 35 next week, signed a one-year extension on his contract in June 2017, but having only featured sparingly this season, his Etihad career will end in a few months time.

"We played in the FA Cup against Huddersfield (last season) and it was so tough". The current records - all held by Chelsea - are 30, 103 and 95 respectively.

"What we have to think about is winning another game".

He has been a more marginal figure this time around as Guardiola's City have sauntered to the title, with all nine of his top-flight appearances coming from the bench.

In all competitions, Toure has made 315 appearances for City, scoring 82 goals. Next season we will be back.
