Aaron Ramsey is considering a new five-year contract offer from Arsenal as head coach Unai Emery attempts to convince the midfielder to stay.

Emery is an admirer of the 23-year-old and believes he will be a useful asset to the Gunners midfield and is "willing to pay £60m".

Ramsey, 27, has been with the north London club for a decade since joining as a teenager from Cardiff City in 2008.

The Sun reported earlier this month that Arsenal would offload the Wales worldwide this summer unless a contract extension was signed.

Per Mertesacker, who had been assigned to the role by Arsene Wenger, brought the curtain down on his career at the end of last season.

"If there's a structure, Aaron Ramsey could be that guy".

Arsenal are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Yacine Adli from Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports in France.

Arsenal have also offered Jack Wilshere a new deal on reduced terms, but with lucrative performance-based bonuses. The Arsenal board apparently approached Monaco in a last-ditch attempt to sign the player but the versatile Brazilian opted to sign for Liverpool instead. So your leader couldn't be soft. However, if things don't work out then the club won't be left out of pocket.

"That experience and that toughness and being able to go away and grind out a victory at one of your rivals, Arsenal haven't done that in years".
