The former Barcelona midfielder is one of the greatest players in City's history and worked with current West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini at the Etihad Stadium.

In an interview with France Football, Toure strongly criticised the Manchester City boss.

And following the conclusion of City's record breaking success in the league, Toure issued a forthright interview about Guardiola.

'We were together two years and it is only now when he says it. "He never told me face to face", he added.

Toure made 17 appearances for City in all competitions last season before being released, while Guardiola was handed a new contract with the club until 2021.

Guardiola initially remained silent in the aftermath of a series of damning accusations made by Toure and his agent last week.

Guardiola yesterday responded to the comments from his former player, saying: 'It's a lie and he knows it.

He was also firm on another subject: "President?"

Guardiola won an incredible 14 titles during a four-year spell as Barcelona head coach including three La Ligas, two Champions Leagues and two Copa del Reys.

Toure spearheaded City to Premier League triumph. "As a coach, it's over [at Barça], because I am not the same, nor do they even look at me in the same way", he said on "Preguntas Freqüentes" on TV3.

"We had a generation of brutal players and the best player in the world [Lionel Messi] as well".

City have been touted by many fans as the best ever in the Premier League, given the fact they reached 100 points over the course of the season.
