Rapper XXXTentacion dead after alleged drive-by shooting in Miami

On Monday, rapper J Cole said the news of XXXTentacion's death had left him "fucked up".

The Broward County Fire Department told TMZ that X has been rushed to a hospital, and while eyewitness claimed the rapper had no pulse, his condition is now unknown.

"The adult male victim has been confirmed as 20 year old Jahseh Onfroy [sic], aka rapper #XXXTentacion", the sheriff's department said later in a Twitter posting.

'Onfroy was leaving RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach shortly before 4pm when he was approached by two armed suspects in an apparent robbery.

A successful USA rapper who attracted controversy after multiple accusations of domestic violence has been shot dead in Florida.

TMZ reported that officials have pronounced him dead.

The Sheriff's Office confirmed that the male was rapper XXXTentacion.

Newsweek reached out to the Broward County Sheriff's Office for comment but had not yet heard back.

According to TMZ, the controversial rapper was leaving a motorcycle dealership when a gunman suddenly went up to his vehicle and shot him.

XXXTentacion, released his debut album in August 2017. In March, a judge ruled that XXXTentacion could be released from house arrest in order to tour in support of his new album.

XXXTentacion pleaded not guilty to multiple felony counts, including witness tampering, and had been under house arrest for a time while he awaited trial. "You were a true artist, one of the most f-ing talented of our time", tweeted Travis Barker along with several heartbroken emojis.

Tributes poured in for the young rapper, notably from Kanye West.

The rapper's music made waves last month after Spotify announced it would scrub his tracks from its platform, as his alleged behaviour had violated codes of conduct.
