Cleveland fan sends heart-warming message after LeBron James departure

James agreed a four-year deal with the Lakers on Sunday with his move instantly making the Los Angeles franchise go from a 35-47 team last season to potential title contenders next season.

James made a decision to sign a three-plus-one contract with the Lakers, which signals his long-term commitment and faith.

The obvious name in any discussion about added star power is disgruntled San Antonio Spurs swingman Kawhi Leonard.

The Lakers also are projected to have enough cap space to sign a second max contract player in 2019. It's also a ideal place to be when his career ends, as he likely will become even more involved with the movie production company he owns.

James signed with the Lakers just hours after opting out of the final year of his contract with the Cavaliers.

LaVar Ball is about the get familiar with LeBron James.

Of course, Ball couldn't make his argument without at least some trash talk, so he took a few jabs at Irving while attempting to favorably contrast his son with the five-time All-Star, now with the Celtics.

After several months of anticipation, James has officially signed a four-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers worth $154 million. "We're going to play so fast, he'll throw (James) touchdown passes and he'll be scoring all day". You've got LeBron here now.

A source close to LeBron told Windhorst: "Unlike most free agents changing teams, LeBron is arriving with the Lakers as an all-time great". Some Clevelanders said they hoped it would remain as a tribute to James' years with the Cavs. Some championships for the Lakers.

However, there is no guarantee any of them will join LeBron in the City of Angels next year. He worked with a superstar lineup that included Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. The three-time National Basketball Association champion will nearly surely drag the Lakers to their first post-season since 2013, but his new team remains short of being a realistic challenger for the title.

The veteran enjoyed a resurgence with the New Orleans Pelicans last season and played some of his best basketball in years.
