The overwhelming success of that effort has only amplified anticipation for the sequel, Doom Eternal.

Bethesda said today that there are twice as many demons as there were the last time, and a number of the enemies from DOOM 2 are being updated for this game.

In our reveal gameplay presentation, we show off Hell on Earth and Phobos, two of many vastly diverse worlds that you'll visit in DOOM Eternal. Wow, ok, well. Doom Eternal has the flawless new feature for you: Invasions!

You ever find yourself thinking, "That Doom Guy's not so tough". The DOOM Slayer is a demon killing machine, and he goes pretty hard in this gameplay demo, slaying demon after demon in brutal style.

To achieve that goal, Id Software started with a very simple goal - make the Doomslayer the strongest and most powerful hero the studio has ever created. Players can even team up as demons to form a Slayer hunting party. It's a fun way to get around and it lets you skip all that awkward mid-range combat where the Super Shotgun can't aerosolize faces. Our intrepid Doom Slayer jumps, grapples, and brutalizes his way through a ruined cityscape, which has been consumed by grotesque fleshy demon architecture.

One feature that the game will offer, though unsure if it will happen in the Switch version yet, is that you can invade the game of other DOOM Eternal players, but they can also invade yours. Coupled with the grappling hook, movement in Doom Eternal takes the action to another level.

DOOM Eternal doesn't have a release date just yet, but it is set to arrive on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
