First 'Game of Thrones' Season 8 Footage Released in HBO Teaser

As you can see, the clips featuring GoT scenes are mainly comprised from old footage but there's a tantalising glimpse of a reunion between Jon and Sansa at Winterfell.

In the wake of rumors of a delay, HBO surprised fans with the first look at footage from the highly anticipated final season of Game of Thrones.

Eagle-eyed viewers can see Jon Snow (Kit Harington) give his sister Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) a good quick, hug. We are also teased to a short fight between Robert Baratheon's bastard son Gendry (Joe Dempsie) and Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster Waldau). It seems that when word first came out from HBO that it was expected it to debut in the first half of 2019, people assumed it would not be at the end of the first half.

Game of Thrones will return in 2019 at some point.

The supervisor also revealed that Game of Thrones effects work is the only thing he will be working on until May.

Among the other shows shown during the trailer are new seasons of Big Little Lies staring Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman, new season of Room 104, and the LeBron James docuseries The Shop.

'We're going to be toiling away on season eight until May of 2019, so it's eight or nine months away, ' he explained.

'The prequel is starting to shoot in February, at least the pilot, ' he said. We have previously speculated, alongside much of the rest of the internet, that they'd be airing around April of next year, but new information suggests that might not be the case.

'In two years we'll be eligible for the season 8 work, ' he said during an interview with Huffington Post, 'which we're just beginning now'.

Brace yourselves Game of Thrones fans, the wait for season 8 might be longer than we initially thought.
