The Arsenal player is in his sixth season in the Premier League and remains a starter for the Gunners. That's the same for Mesut. The Uruguayan has been making substitute appearances, but Emery now looks as if he is ready to start the diminutive midfielder and pair him with Granit Xhaka at the base of Arsenal's midfield.
'He is a very competitive coach and Newcastle, with the support they get in their own stadium, are very strong'.
Furthermore, Alex Iwobi, who missed the Cardiff game through illness has returned to the side, although Emery is expected to name a similar starting lineup to the Cardiff game, meaning Iwobi could play a role from the bench against Newcastle.
"In his career he played like a 10 and on the right coming in with his quality".
"We have to decide now who can play but both Ritchie and Shelvey are in the squad". Arsenal's players are not the only ones who have been away on worldwide duty of course, but this might be a good time for Newcastle to play them.
The manager added: "But he is feeling like I am feeling".
"We are playing against a very good team but we have to approach it with the belief that we can do what we did a year ago". "[For] Mesut it is these two positions".
'Ramsey will want to find out Emery's plans for him and the signings he is looking to make before he decides if Arsenal can match his ambitions. He can improve, he can do more.
"And also, we need in the balance of players, when the team needs to work in the pitch to help the team to find the win, to stay with the performance".
"Also I think he is working for the team to help us with his quality".
Chief executive Ivan Gazidis' future looks less certain, though, with AC Milan having re-opened negotiations with him.
Emery, who was appointed by Gazidis in the summer, said: "Every conversation with me is speaking about us - about our performance, about our ideas, our process".
"I was sharing my experience of when my daughter was born - I had the bottle all the time!"
