Today, @MissyElliott's funky white sister met her sister.
When Mary Halsey recorded a video of herself performing a cover of Missy Elliott's "Work It", she probably never thought this moment would actually happen.
'I just found out I have a FUNKY WHITE SISTER, ' Missy wrote when she saw the viral video.
During Thursday's episode of the daytime talk show, Missy joined Mary Halsey onstage for a surprise performance of "Work It". And the reaction that I got was so positive that it became my go-to [karaoke] song, ' Mary told the show host.
"First I want to thank Ellen for just being unbelievable she will always be blessed because of her HUGE Heart!,' Missy said on Instagram following the show".
Towards the end of Halsey's performance, the 47-year-old hip-hop artist surprised her fan by strutting on to stage to sing the rest of her 2002 hit with her.
Of course, we have to thank Ellen DeGeneres for doing the Internet a solid.
"It was a shock, I never expected this", said Halsey about going viral and getting a response from Missy for the original video. The best part about the performance, however, is that Halsey had no idea the rapper would be joining her. "I thought it was the most unbelievable thing". "And so, I heard my rap going backwards, and I said, 'Keep it, and I'll make words around that part.' And that's what made me say, 'Flip it and reverse it'".
Elliott also surprised Halsey with a jacket that said "funky white sister".
