Nintendo announced on Wednesday that Nintendo Switch Online will launch in just less than a week, on Saturday, Sept. 18.

The wait for Nintendo Switch Online ends on September 18.

These help articles were first discovered by a user on ResetEra, and it's important to point out that even after this update goes into effect, you'll still be able transfer Nintendo Accounts between Switch consoles. These will include Super Mario Bros, Ice Climbers, and the original Legend of Zelda.

Video game stories from other sites on the web. Every classic NES game will support voice chat via the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app.

Why it matters: Nintendo is late to the online party and while it might not be as feature-packed as the competition, at least that is reflected in its price point. Xbox Live Gold and PlayStation Plus both cost $59.99 for a year-long subscription, while Nintendo Switch Online is available for $19.99 per year for an individual or $34.99 for families.

More details on the service are expected during Nintendo's rescheduled Direct event which takes place on September 13 at 6:00 p.m.

While Switch Online will rid of the ability to play online multiplayer games for free, Nintendo is assuring users that not all online features will require a subscription from September.
