Pixel Slate is here: Google debuts a detachable Chrome OS tablet

Google takes this whole hardware business moderately seriously these days, and this will be the third big annual hardware shindig.

Besides these, Google will also showcase products like Pixel Stand, Google Home Hub, and Pixelbook 2, among others. But the Echo Spot has a camera, which creeps people out, and more importantly, I doubt people will be mixing ecosystems in one home. With the $199 Pixel Keyboard, the price jumps to $798 - throw in the Chromebook Pen ($99) and the grand total hits $897.

And, to add insult to injury, Engadget's man in Hong Kong got his hands on the new phone before the event and recorded this video.

However, both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL do not come cheap. There are no clear winners when it comes to user trust, but it's safe to say a smart home device without a camera is less creepy than a device with a really good one. On the front and rear are 8MP cameras. They do offer dual front-firing stereo speakers for pumping out sound without headphones, though, and Google says that these speakers are 40 percent louder. The Pixel 3 is priced at $799 and $899 for 64GB or 128GB of storage, respectively. It's rarely a hardware problem, more that it hasn't put the same work into Android as a tablet OS as Apple has for iOS.

Google unveiled its latest Pixel smartphone, touting tons of intelligent features.

The Pixel Slate tablet runs Google's beefier Chrome OS laptop operating system rather than Android. The most expensive Pixel Slate will cost $1,599 and contain 16GB RAM, a 256GB SSD, and a more powerful 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor.

At first glance, the $149 Home Hub looks oddly traditional.

Leaked images suggest it's more or less what you'd expect: a large tablet strapped to a speaker. With Google Photos integration, the Home Hub can display existing albums or have Google curate an album for you.

Should you decide to go with a Pixel, you can pre-order the phone right now. "In the future, we'll do more things with less". Let the 2019 Pixel Watch rumours commence.

Google has also updated their range of Live Cases for the Pixel 3 in a new section in accessories they've labelled "My Cases".

The Pixel 3 offers an IPX8 rating against water ingress, but the Galaxy S9 holds an IP68 rating against both water and dust.

One of the biggest differences present this year is the fact the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL support wireless charging.

The iPhone also features Google's search engine, but Google may be paying Apple as much as $9 billion annually for that privilege, based on the estimates of Goldman Sachs analyst Rod Hall.

The earbuds are available for purchase now from the Google Store for just $45 but they do come in the box of a Pixel 3 phone so unless you want a spare pair or plan on breaking them you may not want to spend the funds on this just yet. We are in NY to bring you the latest updates. Last year's Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smashed what camera phones could do and, despite competitors attempts, it's only recently been dethroned by the likes of the Huawei P20 Pro in that respect.
