Police in NY are hunting a couple who got engaged in Times Square on Friday but lost the ring down a grate.

Miraculously, the ring was eventually recovered by ESU members who returned to the scene Saturday morning.

According to the Associated Press, the couple appealed to the police for help after losing the ring, but emergency service officers were unable to locate it.

Even better, they cleaned the ring.

Police have also released surveillance photos of the couple and showing the woman crouching and the man lying over the grate as they try and retrieve the ring.

"The unidentified man is described as 5'8" or 5'9" with short brown hair and a beard.

An engagement ring recovered by the NYPD below a Times Square utility grate. But by then the would-be bride and groom were long gone and had not left their names or contact information.

"WANTED for dropping his fiancée's ring in @TimesSquareNYC", the New York Police Department tweeted on Saturday. The only problem: The NYPD is still searching for the couple.
