It seems like Huawei may become the very first company to release a smartphone with a display camera hole, even though the Galaxy A8s is expected to arrive in the near future as well. Previously, it was expected that the Galaxy A8s would launch in January, leaving Huawei in the clear to launch the Nova 4 in December. The promo image confirms that the device will be officially announced in China on December 17, one week after Samsung launches the Galaxy A8s.
Huawei has also put a teaser image. This implementation of the front-facing camera allows for an all-front display, minus the little hole in the corner, of course.
Soon after Samsung announced the Infinity-O design, Huawei started teasing the Nova 4 with a similar design.
The Samsung Galaxy A8s will likely be released in China first prior to making a worldwide debut. From that image one could see the positioning of the front camera on the top left corner.
The 2018 was all about notched displays and the 2019 could well be the year of Display Hole aka Infinity-O display in Samsung's terms.
The Galaxy A8s is rumored to come with a 6.39-inch display with a full-HD+ resolution and a screen aspect ratio of 19.5:9.
The Huawei Nova 4 has an edge to edge display but with a noticeable chin at the bottom. The poster has a galaxy in the background and the company has taken a dig at Huawei by captioning it as the "Real Galaxy". The rear will host a triple rear camera system consisting of a 25MP + 5MP + 10MP sensors, while the front will host a 24MP selfie sensor placed in a display hole. The dimensions of the phone are 157.5 x 75.0 x 7.8mm which, compared to the dimensions of Note 9 (161.9 x 76.4 x 8.8 mm) make it a smaller device in size than the Note 9.
