The new clip gets symbolic, showing ice consuming statues of a wolf and a dragon on the Painted Table at Dragonstone, while fire engulfs a lion, rushing to meet the incoming chill.

HBO dropped the very first official teaser for Game of Thrones Season 8 this afternoon.

Winter is almost here!

HBO has released a new teaser for the upcoming eighth and final season of the network's acclaimed fantasy drama Game of Thrones.

This is poetic, harking back to the title of the novel series the show is based on, A Song of Ice and Fire.

All good? Let's point out a few things you may have noticed.

Fire begins to blaze forward from the opposite end, overwhelming a lion of House Lannister. The dragon also freezes, not exactly sure what that's implying, unless the White Walkers snag another one of Daenerys' babies.

There, Benioff and Weiss revealed how they first imagined the series ending at the end of the third season. But the story of Game of Thrones has always been about fire and ice, be it White Walkers and Targaryens, or aunts and nephews who may unite the kingdom by being in accidentally incestuous relationships.

Renfro wonders if the two converging is representative of what happens when a wight-dragon fights a regular dragon.
