Amid EVM hacking row, Mayawati seeks 2019 polls through ballot paper

Indian cyber expert claims 2014 Lok Sabha elections were'rigged

EC threatens legal action against ‘EVM hackathon’ organisers

It is worrying to know the claims made on the possibility of tampering EVMs.

Replying a question about the recent EVM controversy, Sharma said that the entire Opposition is in favour of returning back to the paper ballot system.

The event in London was reportedly attended by Congress leader Kapil Sibal. "It is being separately examined as to what legal action can and should be taken in the matter", the statement read. "He went there to monitor it on behalf of Congress", Prasad said in New Delhi, "Is the Congress-sponsored event created to defame the popular mandate of India?" Mr Naqvi told media in New Delhi that Kapil Sibal did not go there accidentally but he was sent by Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

"On 3rd June, 2017, when a few political parties raised some issues regarding use of EVMs, ECI organised an open challenge for all to come forward and take an attempt to demonstrate any vulnerability of the EVMs".

He, however, said that since the General Elections are approaching therefore at least the Election Commission should allow 50 percent VVPAT slips per constituency be randomly counted to ensure there is no electoral rigging.

Quite frankly, the scale of the operation that Shuja claims was and is still going on, and the tools required for it, would be virtually impossible for the BJP, or any other private entity, to obtain - that too, in the run-up to an election year when they were not even in power. The event comes close on the heels of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 to be held in the country in April.

EC said it has been conducting Lok Sabha and assembly polls using EVMs for long and the Supreme Court and various high courts have endorsed the use of the machines through their judgments.

Another Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu, the Andhra Pradesh chief minister earlier took to Twitter to term EVM as a "big threat to democracy". He further said, "They are making a hacking horror show of their possible defeat in the upcoming elections".

Soon after Prasads charge, senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Anand Sharma also addressed a press conference here and primarily lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his address in the Pravasi Bharatiya Sammelan.

Munde died in a road accident in New Delhi weeks after the BJP won the 2014 elections. "Yes, every vote counts", she tweeted.

In his yet to be substantiated allegations, Shuja has also accused the BJP of orchestrating the murder of his team members after they helped the party figure out this hack, as well as inciting a riot in Hyderabad in May 2014 to cover up the act.

He claimed they stopped the transmission during Delhi Assembly elections in 2015 and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) emerged as victor.
