The latest Marvel flick is set in the "90s, as helpfully indicated by the Elastica song on the jukebox, Brie Larson's Nine Inch Nails t-shirt, and Samuel L. Jackson getting CGI'ed back to a rough semblance of his Pulp Fiction-era middle age". Lee Pace's baddie is set to make a return, before his days of taking on the heroes in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.
Captain Marvel hits theaters March 8. After all, there's a reason why Fury waited for decades to ask her for help. To prove that she is not one of the shape-shifting, villainous Skrulls, Danvers shoots a photon blast to prove to Fury that she is one of the good guys. And after she shows him the full extent of her powers, he and rookie agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) start to wonder whether there might be other heroes out there like her.
Last night, Captain Marvel tickets went on sale everywhere, helping ensure MCU fans that they'd get their opening night seats for this intergalactic new adventure. Coulson died in the first Avengers film in 2012, but was seen in ABC's Agents of SHIELD. To mark the event they've also unveiled a new "special look" at the upcoming long-awaited film.
"With Captain Marvel, she is as powerful a character as we've ever put in a movie".
All eyes are on Brie Larson if she can amp up the already incredibly amped Marvel Cinematic Universe with Captain Marvel. "I'm excited, and it's not just the marquee names you know - there are hundreds of names on those documents, on those agreements".
Plus, in one score for the "Jude Law is secretly a villain" theory, his (still as-yet-unnamed) character venomously spits out a line that'll probably drive Captain Marvel for years to come: "You're not as strong as you think".
