Yes, Idris Elba is playing Coachella

Perth band Tame Impala announced as Coachella headliners alongside Childish Gambino and Ariana Grande

Coachella 2019 Announces Full Lineup

Kanye West was rumored a year ago to be among the headlining artists at Coachella 2019 but TMZ reported today that Kanye pulled out of the show over the stage's size and design.

The actor, 46, surprised fans of the yearly music festival when they read his name among the list of performers for the 2019 lineup released late Wednesday night.

The 2019 line-up features headliners Childish Gambino, Tame Impala and Ariana Grande.

Most people know Idris Elba for his illustrious acting career.

Elba - who is known for his roles in "The Wire", "Luther", and the "Thor" films - also moonlights as a DJ and even has his own cocktail bar in London where he spins the decks. In 2018, he was named People's "Sexiest Man Alive".

HOW Tame Impala got booked above Solange, Idris Elba, Aphex Twin and Kid Cudi on this year's Coachella lineup is entirely beyond me but I am deeply about it. Honestly, I hate pushing my music.

Of that performance, which was probably a little more stressful than his upcoming gig, Elba told the Guardian, "I try not to talk too much about it, because it was a private day, but it remains one of the highlights of my life, for sure". "Why would you do that?"

He's also appearing in a new Netflix comedy entitled "Turn Up Charlie", where he will play a struggling DJ and eternal bachelor, according to Variety.
