Danai Gurira is reportedly preparing to leave "The Walking Dead" television series.

Gurira joins cast members Andrew Lincoln, Lauren Cohan, Lennie James, and Austin Amelio who have all departed the series in recent years.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gurira's new deal sees her return in a "limited capacity" for only a handful of episodes interspersed throughout the next season.

In addition to starring in The Walking Dead, Danai Gurira is an accomplished playwright and social activist.

Danai's departure was rumoured after she was engaged in "prolonged negotiations" with AMC.

Sorry Walking Dead fans, one of your favs is exiting the series. The show is now in its ninth season, which returns for its second half on Sunday night.

Broadcaster AMC has previously confirmed plans to bring back former Walking Dead lead Andrew Lincoln for a movie trilogy focused on his character, Rick Grimes.

AMC has not commented on her departure from the show yet. It's time once again to reflect upon the characters that we've loved - OK, in some cases, at best kinda put up with - and lost. "But we certainly would want her on the show as long as she wants to be on it", Madden said.

Before she was General Okoye, the leader Wankanda's badass all-woman Army in Black Panther, Danai Gurira was Michonne on the hit series The Walking Dead. "The goal is to have Danai continue on whatever basis she can make work, given the other things that she has going on in her life".

Her exit comes after what's been reported as "prolonged negotiations" with AMC, the company who produces the show, which is broadcast in Ireland on RTÉ 2.
