Five women are nominated for Album of the Year, where Brandi Carlile, Cardi B, Kacey Musgraves, Janelle Monae and H.E.R. will compete with Post Malone, Drake and Kendrick Lamar's "Black Panther" soundtrack.
Her six nominations are for Record of the Year ("The Joke"), Album of the Year (By the Way, I Forgive You), Song of the Year ("The Joke"), Best American Roots Performance ("The Joke"), Best American Roots Song ("The Joke") and Best Americana Album (By the Way, I Forgive You).
The three-and-a-half hour extravaganza will feature performances from nominees Chloe X Halle, Grammy-winner Lady Gaga (choosing this over the Bafta film awards), fellow victor Mark Ronson and Grammy nominee Travis Scott fresh off his performance at Super Bowl LIII.
It's always something of a coup when a genre album or single makes an appearance in the big four categories and Carlile's competition will be steep.
If a three and a half hour award ceremony isn't enough for you, don't worry as Grammy.com has you covered with the Premiere Ceremony starting at 12.30pm PT (3.30pm PT, 8.30pm GMT) and Red Carpet coverage at 2pm PT (5pm ET, 10pm GMT). This week Ariana Grande blasted Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich and accused him of lying about why she was no longer performing at the show.
This year's nominees mark a departure from the 2018 Grammys, where Recording Academy CEO Neil Portnow was criticized when he said women need to "step up" when asked about the lack of women in the top categories.
Lady Gaga arrives for the 60th Grammy Awards on 28 January 2018, in NY. "I see you", Monae said. Weeks later, the academy announced that it had hired Tina Tchen, a lawyer and Michelle Obama's former chief of staff, to head a new task force on inclusion and diversity. "I came out of the closet at 15 years old when I was in high school, and I can assure you that I was never invited to any parties and never got to attend a dance".
When she returned onstage for her second win, she was in shock. "I support her and I support her decision", she added. But with Lady Gaga, Shawn Mendes, Cardi B, and Travis Scott among the evening's performers, there won't be a shortage of star power. A representative for the Grammys didn't return an email seeking clarification about the tribute.
