Alexis Sanchez has lost his "hunger" following his poor form at Manchester United, according to Paul Merson.
The attacking duo suffered injury in the Red Devils' recent 2-0 Champions League defeat to Paris-Saint Germain, with both needing to come off.
"You saw against Fulham, when he gets his chance, he is so sharp in and around the ball, he wins the ball, his energy. if he could just get that goal, I'm sure that would release his confidence".
"I think a player like me has to show it right now".
Woodward is said to be very encouraged by the more positive brand of football Man United are playing as well as the likelihood of players such as Anthony Martial extending their contracts after being on the fence during Mourinho's tenure. He's been here for a year, I've been here for two months now and he's been injured for the first part of it.
Sanchez is battling to regain his best form for United, with caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claiming recently that he "can't do anything" to help the 30-year-old reproduce his previously high standards. "I'm sure we'll see the best of him (from now) until the end of the season".
Lingard and Martial are expected to be sidelined for up to three weeks because of injury but Solskjaer is unfazed ahead of the trip to Stamford Bridge, pointing out he rested some key personnel in the previous round at Arsenal.
"Everyone wants to play an FA Cup final". "We are challenging to be top four, challenging against very, very good teams, so you need the players to step up now and you expect that at Manchester United at the end of the season".
"There are quite a few, their pride has been hurt".
"'When they scored that first goal, I looked at them [team-mates] and I thought, no, something's not right", he told the BBC.
