Olivier Giroud had a hat trick as Chelsea demolished Dynamo Kiev 5-0 in their Europa League round-of-16 second leg to win the tie 8-0 on aggregate.

Dynamo were aware that they faced an uphill task to reach the last eight of this competition having lost 3-0 at Stamford Bridge last week, but Chelsea effectively ended any hopes which the home side may have had within five minutes.

"The pitch is not good and I think that it's really unsafe to play any football here".

"I'm very pleased with all of the goals I scored and the assist I give to Callum, we gave a great team performance today", he told BT Sport after the match.

"I don't know the reason, probably winter, because I played here two years ago and the pitch was wonderful (but it is now) very, very unsafe".

"I prefer to face them in the final", he added.

Kante has been deployed in a slightly more advanced role by Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea FC this season to make space for Jorginho in the side.

'And second, it means that Naples are in the final, and I am happy. "He can become one of the best midfielders not only in England, but in Europe".

Sarri heavily rotated for the match in Kiev, handing rare starts to Ruben Loftus-Cheek in central midfield and Hudson-Odoi on the right wing, and both Chelsea academy products looked sharp at the Olympic Stadium as their team ran riot. Physically, technically, he is improving tactically.

"Tonight we've done well at set-pieces, and it's nice because when you can score goals from set-pieces you understand that you can get more points at the end of the championship, and obviously when you play Europa League. I am really very happy for him and for the hat-trick, and I am really very happy with him".
