IPL 2019: MS Dhoni slammed over twitter for walking onto field in anger

Chennai Super Kings (162/5 n 19.4 overs) beat Kolkata Kolkata Knight Riders (161/8) by 5 wickets at Eden Gardens.

Earlier on Sunday, Chennai Super Kings consolidated their position at the top of the table after securing a last-over win against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.

KKR have injury and sickness issues too with Chris Lynn and Karthik suffering from flu, Sunil Narine injured and Andre Russell also picking up a niggle. The team must look to plug gaps instead of expecting Russell to steady the sinking ship all the time. He never looked at ease during his 21-ball 45 against Delhi Capitals on Friday.

For the hosts their main man Andre Russell is doubtful. The West Indian has so far maintained a brutal strike rate of 212.67.

Having missed his team's last match because of flu, Lynn went ballistic against Deepak Chahar who bled 22 runs from his first two overs with the Aussie smashing the seamer for 4-6-4 in the third over. "It was a clinical performance from the team against a strong team like KKR", Iyer said.

With the pitch still looking greenish, both CSK and KKR will have to recalibrate their bowling attacks.

Confusion reigned in the last over after umpire Ulhas Gandhe signalled Ben Stokes' waist-high delivery a no ball but the decision was overruled by square-leg umpire Bruce Oxenford, prompting Dhoni to enter the field and confront the umpires.

There were mixed reactions to Dhoni's actions on twitter.

The IPL press released reads, "MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings captain, was fined 50 per cent of his match fees for breaching the VIVO Indian Premier League's (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team's match against Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur".

Even their middle-order - Kedar Jadhav and Ambati Rayudu in particular - have been switching on and off. It came at a time when the team was in dire need of a partnership and someone to stay at the crease. As a whole, the CSK batting line-up, consisting of the likes of Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson and Suresh Raina have all clicked when needed. Throw Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir into the mix, and you have a bowling attack that just seems to have the flawless balance.

The CSk, on the other hand, won six of the seven matches in the tournament and moving towards the playoffs.
