Lightning trail 2-0 vs. Blue Jackets as series shifts to Columbus

Nikita Kucherov suspended 1 game for boarding Markus Nutivaara

2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs: Nikita Kucherov suspended for one game after 'dangerous' hit in Game 2

Since leading Game 1 3-0 at the end of the first period, the Tampa Bay Lightning have been outscored 9-1 by the Columbus Blue Jackets and are down 0-2 in the series. Columbus has scored 34 power-play goals, converting on 15.4 percent of chances.

However, Kucherov refused to answer questions about the boarding infraction on Blue Jackets defenseman Markus Nutivaara with 4:26 remaining in Columbus' 5-1 win in Game 2 at Amalie Arena on Friday that led to his one-game suspension.

Kucherov led the league in points during the regular season with 128 (41 goals, 87 assists).

Kucherov has zero points through the first two games of the series. All three guys finished in the top-12 of the league in points during the regular season. "Last year you were up 2-0 too".

Kucherov will be missing his first game of the season.

Braydon Coburn and Ryan Callahan draw into the lineup tonight in place of Hedman and Kucherov.

Kucherov was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for boarding. His absence would be another notable one, but there's some optimism he'll play Game 3.

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Jordan Eberle and Josh Bailey scored in the third period and NY beat Pittsburgh for a 2-0 lead in their first-round playoff series. The DOPS determined that on the play, Kucherov skated toward the "defenseless Nutivaara, lowered himself for contact, and drives him into the boards", according to a video explanation released on Saturday.
