Facebook kicked off their F8 developer conference today with a keynote presentation featuring CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Zuckerberg said he was still weighing how to respond to criticism and potential regulation, the trade-offs between safety and encryption, and the future of the company's business. "This is the next chapter for our services", Zuckerberg told his F8 faithful. "I am committed to doing this well". "We're excited to see all the ways developers, creators and entrepreneurs use these tools as we continue to build more private ways for people to communicate", said Facebook. Facebook is working to remove groups that have "harmful content", Zuckerberg said, and to de-emphasize those that share misleading information.

Recent design trends on Android take away app bars' individual colors and replace them with white, making it harder for us to distinguish apps.

"We're excited to announce that we're re-building the architecture of Messenger from the ground up to be faster and lighter than ever before" it said. Along with these visual changes, groups will receive a more prominent place on the platform.

As part of its efforts to bring in transparency as elections progress in India, Facebook has started providing details of political ads on its platform. The feature will roll out in the U.S.by the end of 2019. A lack of like count could impact how influencers engage with the platform specifically. "Payments and private commerce will be a focus and more news on it will be coming in the next few years", Zuckerberg said.

The new features were introduced in a revamped Facebook app as the embattled social network embarks on a new strategy emphasizing private communications and small groups.

The biggest shakeup has focused on Facebook's messaging app, the online marketplace and video-on-demand site.

A new feature called "Secret Crush" will let people signal which friends they are interested in romantically, but only letting the object of their fancy know it if that person makes similar interest known on a private crush list.

WhatsApp: The messenger app will henceforth have algorithm-based Status updates, with updates from friends that the users tend to contact more often given precedence over others. "As a result, users chatting with a business will be able to see a showcase of that business" products at the same time.

Likes in the front, subscribe in the rearAs this is Facebook we're talking about there needs to be something creepy to finish with, an lo and behold we have Facebook Dating expanding beyond Colombia, Thailand, Canada, Argentina, and Mexico. This includes Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Laos, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Guyana, and Suriname. Most of Facebook's user growth was global in the past year, while its USA and Canadian user base barely nudged upward. And, they are also creating appointment experience to allow customers to book appointments within a Messenger conversation.

Businesses on WhatsApp can soon upload product catalogs. The company is completely rewriting the app's codebase to reduce the app size below 30MB in size and offer extra fast launching of the app, all without reducing the features offered by the app.
