The "Arthur" premiere gave us all the feelings - not just because the PBS animated series is back for its 22nd season, but because Mr. Ratburn finally got the happy ending he deserves.

In New York, one Twitter user's post highlighting Mr Ratburn's gay marriage, was "liked" more than 112,000 times in 21 hours.

Meanwhile, Twitter made a decision to celebrate as a beloved character from childhood has now come out, and millennial Arthur viewers have feels.

In the episode, "Mr. Ratburn and the Special Someone", Arthur and his classmates are surprised to learn their teacher, Mr. Ratburn, is engaged to be married because they can not accept that teachers have personal lives.

"When they go home, they sharpen pencils, eat kale and dream up homework assignments", Buster says in the ep, "They don't even sleep!"

It was a memorable season premiere for the PBS Kids TV series "Arthur". "They just go into low-power mode and watch documentaries".

Children's show Arthur has been all over the internet lately after revealing that one of the main character's in the show is gay. Since the couple look so in love, Arthur and his pals decide not to stop the wedding and instead, playfully make fun of the way Mr. Ratburn and his new husband move during their first dance.

In the ep, Arthur and his mates are surprised to learn that their teacher is engaged, not because it's to a man, but because they refuse to believe that their teachers actually have personal lives outside of school, which is fair. However, when they arrive at the ceremony, they discover that Patty is actually Mr. Ratburn's sister and he's actually marrying his male fiancé. In the episode, Buster meets a number of children whose moms were lesbians.

Mr Ratburn is marrying Patrick, a warm aardvark chocolatier from earlier in the episode.
