The threat of severe thunderstorms is expected to last into Friday night.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for southwestern Wisconsin as we move into the evening hours. The watches for Gananoque, Mallorytown, Westport and Charleston Lake were lifted at about 5:45. Environment Canada says its meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail, and heavy rain.
More showers begin to develop Friday and into the weekend as high pressure exits the eastern US and opens the door for more afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. "There is also the threat of an isolated tornado", the Environment Canada Weather Watch reads.
Intense storms Saturday could bring damaging winds, large hail and the possibility of a tornado in Central and Western Massachusetts. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
The public is advised to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
