Roger Federer has exacted sweet revenge over Rafael Nadal to sweep into a record 12th Wimbledon final with an enthralling four-set triumph over the mighty Spaniard.

In the junior girls' final, Alexa Noel of the United States will face Daria Snigur of Ukraine.

The finish didn't come in the fifth set this time around, but Federer needed every bit of his imperious best to overcome every ounce of Nadal's heart and will to eke out an incredible fourth set 6-4 and return to the final of the All England Club for a 12th time.

Federer was locked into the match from the moment he delivered an ace with the first ball and, apart from that dip in the second set, neutralised Nadal's weapons throughout.

He won the third set 6-3 and then took the final set 6-4.

However, it is eight-time champion Federer who just edges their Wimbledon head-to-head 2-1 after winning the 2006 and 2007 finals before Nadal famously broke the spell in 2008.

For me, this is partially about how RBA handles the occasion, and if he does that successfully (where the likes of Berrettini didn't) he's got a set in him and the 3-1 to Djokovic appeals at 3.75. "It was a joy to play".

Djokovic played a near-flawless first set but his level dipped slightly at the start of the second and Bautista Agut, who had seemed nervy early on, grew in confidence. By ranking (22nd), he should not have presented much of a threat to Djokovic, who had won three of the previous four Grand Slams.

Expect the Spaniard to give it all he has like he always does, but Djokovic to make his way to another major final, in three well-fought sets.

Once his volley victor found the net tape and trickled over to cap the third set, the outcome seemed inevitable.

Djokovic, increasingly irritated by a restless crowd, broke for 4-2 in the third set and held for 5-2 off the back of a lung-busting 45-shot rally.

The Wimbledon semifinal between Novak Djokovic and Roberto Bautista Agut was briefly interrupted after a fan became ill on Centre Court. The match resumed minutes later.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic has won the first set 6-2 in his Wimbledon semifinal against Roberto Bautista Agut.

Djokovic is looking for his fifth Wimbledon title, while Bautista Agut is appearing in his first Grand Slam semifinal.

That includes 14 of the last 16 at Wimbledon.

This is the 40th time that the tennis legends will square-up in their careers.

Seeded 23rd, Bautista Agut was as surprised by his march to Wimbledon's semifinal as anyone, having scheduled his bachelor party in Ibiza for the tournament's final weekend. Federer and Nadal featured in the 2019 French Open semi-final, where Nadal beat Federer in straight sets.
