New this year, Amazon Prime Day 2019 will offer more than one million deals globally, including new featured Lightning Deals.
Initially sparked by Amazon five years ago, "Black Friday in July" refers to the wave of sales that now crop up around Prime Day both from the retail giant and competing retailers hoping to gain a portion of consumers' spend that led to over $4 billion in sales on Amazon last year. Here's how to make sure you don't miss a Prime Day sale you're looking for.
Though most of Prime Day's best discounts won't be live until the start of the sale, there's one early Prime Day deal you can shop now: Through June 30, you can get this Toshiba HD 43-inch Fire TV Edition Smart TV on sale for $180 on Amazon (normally $300).
And every day leading up to July 15 members will discover exclusive offers and deals.
Amazon revealed that Prime Day 2019 will begin at midnight PT on Monday, July 15th, and end two full days later.
"This is yet another example of the flexibility Amazon has to push the pricing envelope, in this case to broaden and deepen the benefits to Prime members, which creates a conundrum for all retailers, with the smaller, financially weaker retailers the most at risk", said Charlie O'Shea, VP at Moody's in commentary provided to Retail TouchPoints.
This year, members can shop hundreds of thousands of Prime Day deals from small and medium-sized businesses around the globe and, for the first time, members will be able to shop a dedicated page of Prime Day deals from USA -based innovators, artisans, and entrepreneurs.
Overall, about 27 percent Prime day shoppers plan to spend between $51 and $100; 26 percent will buy less than $50 worth of goods. More than half of Prime members who purchased last Prime Day (56% U.S., 53% U.K.) expect to spend more this year.
Prime Video: Amazon is offering $10 store credit for members who have not yet tried Prime Video after their first video stream. Amazon tested out its inaugural Prime Day in July of 2015 to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
