- Westpac Bank (@Westpac) July 11, 2019⚠️ We're now looking into an issue affecting services including EFTPOS and access to ATMs.
The Commonwealth Bank said it's looking into "an issue" at around 15.30 Sydney time with some services while the National Australia Bank is understood to be having problems with some eftpos and Hicaps payments services.
"We're sorry for any issues caused and will provide an update when we know more".
"A supplier issue is impacting a number of organisations (including us), we are experiencing outages to some EFTPOS transactions and banking services at our outlets. We apologise to all of our customers who are inconvenienced by this", a CBA spokesman said in a statement to AAP.
Telstra has confirmed this afternoon that a machine-to-machine network is experiencing a nation-wide outage, which is affecting ATMs, EFTPOS terminals and more.
"Good news. Many of our services are starting to restore". It's affecting some of our services.
Westpac said some branches, ATMs and services in Sydney were non-operational due to a broader network failure in the region.
The Commonwealth Bank said it was "impacted by an issue" with a telecommunications provider.
The outage has also wreaked havoc at Caltex service stations and Woolworths stores.
"We are aware of an issue affecting some of our services", CBA said on Twitter.
Most customer services have now been restored, and we're working with our customers on the remaining few.
It's business as usual for Australian banks and major supermarkets after a Telstra outage left customers unable to withdraw cash or pay at checkouts for hours. We are working closely with external providers as to when these services will be restored and we will continue to update our customers as a priority.
