Transfer: Coutinho’s Barcelona future uncertain as Griezmann takes his No.7 shirt

Griezmann will be teaming up with Messi at Barcelona next season

Griezmann nearly signed for Barca 12 months ago, but instead opted to remain at Atletico, announcing his choice to stay in a documentary called "The Decision".

"We will shortly be publishing the full schedule for the presentation of Antoine Griezmann as a new member of the Barca first team".

Griezmann becomes the sixth most expensive signing of all time, behind Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Philippe Coutinho, Joao Felix, and Ousmane Dembele.

"When I was a boy, my dad taught me that trains don't come around just once", Griezmann said.

Griezmann announced in May that he would be leaving Atletico this summer, but it was not until July, when his release clause dipped, that Barca confirmed they wanted to sign him. The club posted Griezmann's photo wearing Barcelona's traditional home jersey as well.

Enrique Cerezo claimed Atletico Madrid have evidence Barcelona had agreed to terms with Antoine Griezmann before his release clause dropped to €120 million (£107m/$134m).

Because release clauses are handled by the league office, Barcelona did not have to deal directly with Atletico Madrid on the transfer, instead funneling the money through La Liga and thus voiding Griezmann's Atletico Madrid contract, allowing him to complete the move to Barcelona.

"Here I have new challenges, new targets and hopefully I can do it in the best possible way".

Barcelona announced the World Cup winner's move to the Catalan capital from Atletico Madrid on Friday.

Will Griezmann be a hit at Barcelona? I'll defend the Barça colours with all my determination and commitment.

He was scouted by Basque club Real Sociedad at the age of 14.

The 28 year old scored 133 goals in 257 appearances for Atletico Madrid as the club's fifth-highest goalscorer. He also won the Europa League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Spanish Super Cup in that time.
