Wesley Snipes Joins Eddie Murphy in Sequel to Coming to America

Wesley Snipes is Coming to America. To honour his father's dying wish to raise this son as the crowned prince and heir, Akeem sets off to America to find him.

In the original, Akeem goes incognito and travels to Queens, New York to find a wife. James Earl Jones and Paul Bates, who played Akeem's father King Jaffe Joffer and royal servant Oha respectively, are also set to reprise their roles according to entertainment news site Deadline.

Leslie Jones, Wesley Snipes and Kiki Layne have been linked to Coming 2 America, the Coming to America sequel that sees Eddie Murphy pick up his role of Akeem after 31 years. Layne's on as Akeem's daughter, who considers herself the son he never had - at least, until now. Take that with a grain of salt for now, but Murphy has obviously done it before.

Coming 2 America begins filming this fall and is set for a 2020 release.

Craig Brewer ("Hustle & Flow") is directing the project, which will be written by Kenya Barris ("Black-ish").

In the original 1988 movie, Anderson played Maurice, an employee at McDowell's, the fictional McDonald's-like restaurant where Prince Akeem worked.

News of Snipes' new role as General Izzi comes days after he told fans he supports Mahershala Ali's casting as vampire vigilante Blade in a revamp of his 1990s action-horror film trilogy.

Taylor is a model and acclaimed dancer who has appeared in numerous music videos, as well as TV shows like Hit the Floor, The Breaks, and Star with Queen Latifah.

"Congratulations and Salaam (peace) to Mahershala Ali, a lovely and talented artist whose expressions I look forward to experiencing for many years to come".
