There appears to have been a potential breakthrough regarding Neymar's future with PSG, with the French club confirming that discussions about him leaving the club are at an advanced stage.

Barcelona have made it clear that they will sign Neymar back this summer only as part of a barter exchange, provided that Paris Saint-Germain are willing to take in their players, yet expressing certainty that the Brazilian star will stay in Paris until autumn at least, Marca reported.

Mbappe meanwhile told Canal Plus: 'I will not lie and we will see what will happen with the situation of Neymar because it is not the same team without him. "It is not possible that he plays tomorrow", he said.

"It is my job to be coach".

PSG's Neymar stands next to assistant coaches (back L to R) Rainer Schrey, Arno Michels and Zsolt Loew as he attends a training session of the club in Saint-Germain-en-Laye on Saturday.

"He is still a little injured".

Should Neymar leave PSG, Kylian Mbappe will pick up the mantle as the club's leading light - a role it could be argued he already occupies.

'I have no news on his future, ' PSG boss Thomas Tuchel said on French TV show Canal Football Club.

Tuchel was asked about his relationship with the FIFA World Cup-winning France worldwide, who he said will start alongside Edinson Cavani against Nimes. I am always trying to find ways to get him to score.

"It is not me who has to say to come but Ney is unique and it would better for everyone, Barça if he came".

"Honestly, it is not just that [transfer rumours]", he said. "I will lose my mind". During his two seasons at the club, Neymar has missed nearly half of the team's games through injury and left supporters frustrated by his lack of committment to the club.
