He is 3-for-6 on field goals and 14-for-15 on PATs in four career games with the Rams (in 2017 and 2018).

The Jets didn't want to spend that much on a kicker and opted for Chandler Catanzaro, who struggled in training camp and retired abruptly after the second preseason game. Taylor Bertolet replaced him, but also had issues.

Now, it appears as though Vedvik's tenure in NY is finished after just one week.

After Vedvik missed a field goal and an extra point attempt during the Jets' 17-16 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, NY waived him and signed Sam Ficken on Tuesday to be their new kicker moving forward.

In a subsequent move, the New York Jets announced that Kaare Vedvik had been released.

After bouncing around a few team's preseason rosters, Ficken was finally given his chance with the Rams following an injury to Greg Zuerlein.

"We have to make extra points, we have to make field goals", Gase said, via the New York Post.

Ficken, 26, spent training camp with the Packers and attempted only one field goal in the preseason and five extra points.

Ultimately, we will have no idea how Ficken how will fare until he finally steps on to the field this Monday night.

The Jets let Pro Bowl kicker Jason Myers leave for Seattle in free agency. Or will he be another one-week wonder in the team's everlasting search for a new placekicker?

Jets head coach Adam Gase expressed his frustration in his team's kicking performance after NY lost by a point in their season-opener.
